The School of the SEA (Sea and Earth Advocates) is an experiential learning center focusing on the principles of marine conservation and of sustainable living. This was founded by the Law of Nature Foundation (LNF) in 2002. For the past several years, it has been very instrumental in changing the mindsets, attitudes, and practices of its student-visitors. It has been able to reach out to at least eight thousand participants, youth, teachers, lawyers, young professionals, LGU officials, and many more.
An eco-friendly philosophy can be adapted easily, and a lot of people are taking to the ecofriendly lifestyle - seen in their use of the many types of "green bags" when grocery shopping or going through their day-to-day activities.
With the invitation to 'switch off' extended to everyone, Earth Hour quickly became an annual global event. It's scheduled on the last Saturday of every March - closely coinciding with the equinox to ensure most cities are in darkness as it rolled out around the Earth. In 2011, the challenge became going Beyond the Hour - which is an invitation to further commit to lasting action on climate change

Team Pitman from Luzon – composed of Andrew Chinalpan Jr, John Thomas Gonzales, Anelia Primne, Christopher Eyao; and Support Crew, Pastor Emata and Randy Salazar – bested eleven other teams in the grueling four-day multi-discipline adventure race known as the Carrera Habagat 2012: The Return.
“The Carrera Habagat got even tougher but I’m happy that it’s back for the better,” quipped Andrew, the Team Leader.
“When you say Cebu, everyone thinks that it’s all flatlands. Many were surprised with the terrain,” added Emata who, in 2006 reached the summit of Mt. Everest and was a member of one of the only two teams that finished the Carrera Habagat in 2007.
Team Mindanao won second place, while Team Conquer came from behind the lines in a great upset and won third place.
“Here’s to all the teams that participated! You’re all winners!” shouted Kay of Cuarenta who, along with Bethany, performed during the awarding ceremonies held at Estaca Bay Resort in Compostela, Cebu.
After a four-year hiatus, the Carrera Habagat returned to feature cities and municipalities in the Cebu Province. This year, thirteen teams from all over the Philippines battled it out from 22 to 25 November 2012 in what is known as the toughest adventure race in the country. For four straight days, the teams had to undergo tasks and challenges that tested their endurance and pit them against nature – running, hiking, swimming, paddling, biking, rappeling, and navigating through Control Points that were scattered all over Cebu, Toledo, Liloan, and Balamban.
“It was really tough but it was also a lot of fun,” said Bugoy Biker Jens Funk of Team Bugoy/Bugay from Cebu City.
“The Carrera Habagat is not just some sissy one-day race,” stated Event Director Randy Su.
